Job Requirements:
Skilled in the identification and prevention of potential risks, including complaint resolution.
Extensive experience in the investigation and analysis of incidents and claims.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, visitors and the community.
Basic knowledge and ability to work with personal computers and software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Risk Management software applications.

Baccalaureate in a health-related field
Minimum five (5) years’ clinical experience in acute care setting, preferably tertiary setting
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in healthcare risk management
Master’s degree in healthcare-related field
Management of Risk Management program
Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager, Licensed in State of Florida
Registered Nurse, Licensed in State of Florida
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or other nationally recognized risk management certification.
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). (Preferred).
Job Description:
Provides Oversight for Risk Management Event Analysis, Loss Control Initiative implementation, Risk Management Data Management, and hospital-based Internal Claims Management program and ensures compliance with AHS Risk Management operations.
Maintains responsibility for all aspects of the risk management program as defined in FS 395.0197 and according to national regulatory and accrediting entities (i.e., CMS, TJC).
Ensures regulatory compliance through review, investigation, and resolution of the patient complaint/grievance process.
Ensures patient safety and risk management data is reported routinely to facility administration and Board of Directors as outlined in AHS Risk Management Program.
Maintains responsibility for the review of all event reports to ensure potentially compensable events are reported to Adventist Health System (AHS) Risk Management and any applicable regulatory agencies.
Assumes responsibility for gathering of underwriting information and insurance specifications at time of renewal for AHS Risk Management.
Develops and maintains patient safety and risk management department operations including development of risk management plan, training and supervision of departmental staff; development of annual departmental goals, and systematic evaluation of the effectiveness of risk management activities; and plans, prepares and maintains budgeted resources and staffing; develops and maintains consistent performance management system for department personnel.
Presents ongoing education and training relative to risk prevention and reporting requirements regarding the affirmative duty to report incidents as outlined in FS 395.0197.
Ensures all occurrences that meet criteria for reporting to AHS Risk Management are reported timely; specifically events involving serious injury reported during event calendar year for insurance excess coverage.
Remains fully informed of evolving national and local patient safety and risk management mandates and guidelines.
Establishes and promotes a customer service-oriented philosophy for the Patient Safety and Risk Management department and their dealings with all customers.
Analyzes exposure to loss on an ongoing basis and reports information to administration and facility Board of Directors.

Supports and participates in the Hospital’s Risk Management Program/Process
