Job Requirements:
Education
BSN, BS Public Health or Epidemiology or closely related.
Experience
5yrs infection control experience with 1 yr in a team lead or supervisory role.
Skills
§ Thorough knowledge in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration, and epidemiology.
§ Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications
§ Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of healthcare personnel including local and state health department officials.
Licensures, Certifications
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand for up to fifteen percent of work time when making rounds collecting data from patients' units and the like
Working Conditions
§ Normal office environment.
§ Occasional (up to twenty percent of work time) exposure to infectious patients and/or specimens when making surveillance rounds, reviewing results of cultures and so forth.
Job Description:
Under limited supervision, coordinates the activities of the Infection Control Program which includes infection surveillance, prevention, and control components designed to protect the patient, healthcare worker, and visitors across the continuum of care at the Medical Center. The Manager of Infection Control works in coordination with the Infections Committee and its Chairman (Chairman of Pathology).
