Educational / Training Requirements Bachelor’s degree Health Information Management required. Master’s degree in related area of study is preferred Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Experience Requirements Minimum of seven (7) years progressive management experience in health information management in a complex, competitive hospital system environment. Current knowledge of local and national issues, regulations, and standards impacting the function and future of health records management including hospital licensing, HIPAA, Department of Health, and JCAHO. Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style and ability to communicate effectively with clinicians , senior administrators and physician leaders.

Job Description:

Leads, directs, monitors, and is responsible for the successful operation of all aspects of Health Information Management for Jefferson Health (both hospitals and JUP) including, but not limited to Chart Prep and Scanning, Coding, Transcription, Release of Information, Quality, Audits, and Records Center for all authorized entities in the TJUH health care delivery systems. Responsible for providing leadership and oversight for the Clinical Documentation Improvement Department by monitoring and evaluating operating results and adjust the CDI Program’s operations accordingly to achieve objectives and goals. Oversee and provide leadership for documentation improvement and successful ICD-9 to ICD-10 implementation. Responsible for developing and implementing operational and capital budgets in conjunction with department management team. Creates innovative programs and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and quality national ranking for TJUH. Forecasts the department’s future needs and implements the plan with the input from the leadership. Responsible to the Vice President of Revenue Cycle, the HIM Senior Director will oversee a department of 87 through 6 direct reports. This position is expected to support opportunity to: enable providers access to all medical information collected on a patient from all potential data sources, provide timely access to complete and accurate medical documentation in a centralized location, improve clinical documentation to meet coding and quality metrics and increase level of confidence in externally reported data.
