Minimum Entry Level Qualifications 1. Experience and/or level of competency: Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner. Seven or more years of previous hospital experience in most aspects of health information management functions. Knowledge of JCAHO, HIPAA, federal and state regulations for healthcare facilities. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Computer literate. Uses accurate, clear and concise oral and written communication. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. 2. Academic Preparation: Bachelor’s Degree and R.H.I.A/ R.H.I.T certified

Job Description:

Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a Health Information Management department in support of hospital strategic objectives and program planning. . Ensures that all health information management practices meet accreditation standards and state standards. Oversees budgeting, quality improvement and staff hiring, evaluation and supervision Responsible for successful maintenance of patient records and organizational, administrative operation of the Health Information Management Department. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others Overall responsibility for operational aspects of department. Serves as resource for facility regarding medical record content and regulatory requirements. Assures availability of the Health Information Management at all times. Understand the functionality of all various dept positions in order to learn as well as teach staff on new Electronic Health Records System, in addition to being familiar with updated ICD-10 National Upgrades.
